Do you love all things river? Ever heard of an Outfall? Curious about tunnel boring machines? The details are still coming together, but we are putting together a field trip for river-enthusiasts NWAEP Members.
Clack-A-Mole Field Trip
Clackamas Water Environment Services, 150 Beavercreek Road #430, Oregon City, OR 97045
Tentative date: September 20, 2024, Time TBA
Clackamas Water Environment Services (WES) is building a new outfall to the Willamette River. This involves boring a half-mile-long, nine-foot-diameter tunnel that pops out in the middle of the river, using a tunnel boring machine nicknamed the “Clack-A-Mole.” (WES held a community contest to name the machine, and received over 650 entries!)
Join us for a super-cool field trip to learn more about the importance of infrastructure and the technology and environmental considerations it takes to keep our rivers and waterways clean — plus a tunnel boring machine!
More details to come!
