NWAEP Service Event
Kubota Gardens/Mapes Creek Stewardship
Date & Time
Sunday, July 12, 2026 | 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Location
Kubota Gardens Park (north side), Seattle
Event Overview
The event will open with a site tour and introduction of this project and what it offers in the realm of restoration and re-indigenizing land stewardship. The work will then involve various restoration activities based on the needs of the space.
Trillium lead Tareq Fayyad is a very thoughtful steward who runs events that are as meaningful to the attendees as they are to the land being stewarded, incorporating food and art along with stewarding tasks, such as trail tending, installing plants and removal of ivy and blackberry, for a deeper connection between people and the land.
Gloves and tools will be provided, along with light snacks. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate to working in the woods, and bring water and any other needs you have for spending a few hours outdoors.
Tareq is hosting this event specifically for our group, so let’s provide a great NWAEP turnout! Please register here. Board member Patti Bakker (patti.bakker@terracon.com) is coordinating this event with Tareq and can answer questions on the event.
