The Jacobs Northwest Environmental Science and Planning practice is looking for Mid-Level Environmental Planners to join the team. The positions can be based out of Jacobs’ Bellevue, Seattle, Yakima, or Spokane offices.
In this role you’ll support our transportation, water, utility, and energy sector work by assisting in environmental permitting and planning processes in accordance with federal, State, and local regulations. The ideal candidate can support a diverse public and private client base by applying planning techniques, preparing environmental documentation, determining permitting needs, compiling permit applications, and is able to engage internal and external partners and the public in these processes.
You’ll use your skills and experience to assist others in ensuring regulatory compliance and completing permitting and documentation at the Federal, state, and local levels in primarily Washington State but working on projects in other states is possible, including: National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis and document preparation; State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) analysis and document preparation; aquatic and upland permitting; local Growth Management Act (GMA) and comprehensive planning processes, and critical areas reporting.

Typical salary range for this position is $65,700 to $114,900 and is commensurate with experience relative to the position. For “remote” positions, salary to be offered is geographic dependent.
Here's What You'll Need:
- BA, BS or higher is required. A degree in Urban, Regional or Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences or Natural Resources (e.g. Environmental Studies, geography, biology, ecology) is preferred.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a planner, scientist, or science-based technician; or similar position (a Master's degree may count as 1 year of experience; internships and related technical assignments may be considered for the required experience.)
- Familiarity with NEPA, SEPA, GMA and an understanding of Clean Water Act, Shoreline Management Act, and Washington State Hydraulic Rules.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
